SYDNEY, N.S. – Two young men are facing charges in an alleged assault that put a 14-year old Cape Breton boy in hospital after the incident last Wednesday.
Eighteen-year-old Dakota Charles Williams of Scotchtown is to appear in Sydney provincial court Wednesday for a bail hearing on charges of aggravated assault and weapons possession.
A 17-year-old boy from New Waterford is also charged with aggravated assault.
The mother of the injured 14-year-old says her son is in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with bruising on his brain, a fracture on his skull and a damaged eardrum.
The mother says her son was walking with a group of girls at the time of the incident.
She says two young men challenged the boy and then hopped a fence before the alleged beating occurred.
