Nova Scotia government to handle removal of dead whale: tourism minister

PORT HASTINGS, N.S. – Nova Scotia’s tourism minister says the province will take care of dealing with a rotting whale that washed ashore in Cape Breton.
Michel Samson says different levels of government have been trying to figure out who is responsible for the dead fin whale in the Strait of Canso.
The 15-metre whale was first seen on the shore in Port Hastings last Thursday, setting off a discussion between Ottawa, the province and the municipal government over the cleanup.
Samson, the MLA for Cape Breton-Richmond, says the Natural Resources Department is working on a plan to remove the whale over the next couple of days.
Locals have said the whale has been smelling up the area and needs to go.
