Police looking for suspect in serious assault downtown

HALIFAX – Halifax regional Police are hoping the release of several images from a surveillance video will help them identify a suspect in a serious assault on June 15th.

At 3:56 early that Sunday morning, a 24-year-old man was standing outside the Toothy Moose bar at 1661 Argyle Street in Halifax with two women.

The victim was approached by another man, who pushed his way past the women and punched the victim in the face, allegedly unprovoked.

The man fell to the ground and his attacker left on foot with another woman.

Police say the victim was taken to hospital by friends and contacted police later that morning. He suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken jaw.

Police are releasing two pictures of the suspect taken from video surveillance in the area.

He is described as a black man in his twenties, 5’10” with a small build. And at the time of the incident, he was wearing a black shirt, brown shorts, black sneakers and white socks.
