Person of interest in Halifax robberies considered armed and dangerous: police

HALIFAX – Halifax police say a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for a man they consider a person of interest in two recent robberies.

Police say the National Parole Board issued a warrant for Richard Lee Hartlin on Wednesday after he allegedly failed to return to a Halifax halfway house.

They say the 38-year-old man is considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached by members of the public.

Police say Hartlin is considered a person of interest in a robbery Wednesday at a grocery store on Windsor Street, and another robbery Saturday at a gas station on Herring Cove Road.

In both cases, police say the thief handed the clerk a note demanding cash and indicated he had a weapon.

They say the man displayed what appeared to be a firearm under his jacket in the second robbery.
