Canada-wide warrant issued for man wanted in connection to two Halifax robberies

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for 38-year-old Richard Lee Hartlin, who’s believed to be connected to a couple of recent robberies in Halifax.

Sgt. Greg Robertson tells News 95.7 the first robbery happened just after 7:20p.m. Wednesday evening at the Windsor Street Sobeys.

“A male entered the store and handed the clerk a note indicating he had a weapon and demanded cash,” he explains. “He left the store with a small amount of money.”

About an hour later, Hartlin failed to return for his curfew at a Halifax-area halfway house and that’s when the Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued.

On Saturday, a man robbed the Petro Canada gas station on Herring Cove Road after handing the clerk a note and brandishing what appeared to be a gun in his waistband.

“Richard Hartlin has also been identified as the person of interest in regards to this robbery as well,” says Robertson. “So at this point he’s arrestable for his parole warrant and his two robbery files.”

Hartlin is considered armed and dangerous so Robertson says you shouldn’t try to approach him.

Anyone with information on Richard Hartlin’s whereabouts is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5020 or their local police department.
