Storm cancellations pile up

Here’s the most up-to-date list of closures and cancellations. This list is updated as we get more information, so keep checking back.

Transportation

• All incoming flights from 9a.m. on have been cancelled at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, most departures also cancelled. Check ahead before heading to the airport.
• Metro Transit began ramping down bus service at 11 a.m. says service is suspended for the rest of the service day. Ferry service will continue until further notice…Metro Transit’s twitter account indicates essential Access-a-Bus service (dialysis, medical procedures etc) will continue
• Maritime Bus will not be running scheduled routes
• Kings Transit buses will not be running
• Marine Atlantic has cancelled crossings until Friday

Municipal Services

• All HRM offices closed
• HRM curbside collection of garbage, organics, and recyclables in areas normally scheduled for Wednesday are cancelled; Closed: Otter Lake Waste Processing & Disposal Facilities, Materials Recycling Facility at 20 Horseshoe Lake Dr., Composting Facilities at 80 Gloria McCluskey Ave. in Burnside and 61 Evergreen Place in Goodwood
• All branches and departments of Halifax Public Libraries closed
• Halifax Water offices closed
• Halifax Water public meeting at the Tantallon Library is cancelled
• All locations of the Annapolis Valley Regional Library closed
• East Hants Council meeting moved to Thursday
• Berwick Town Hall closed
• Wolfville Town offices closed
• RCMP community consultation session in Musquodoboit Harbour will be rescheduled
• The tabling of HRM’s operating and project budgets rescheduled Richard Butts will now present the proposed 2014-15 operating and project budgets at a rescheduled Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, April 1st, beginning at 10 a.m., in Council Chambers

Provincial/Federal/Courts/Military

• All provincial government offices are closed as of noon
• Provincial courts in Kentville, Sydney, Halifax and Dartmouth are now closed, as is Supreme Court Family Division Halifax
• Night Court and Small Claims Court closed
• CFB Halifax is closed. This includes all PSP facilities at Stadacona
• Halifax and Region Military Family Resource Centre Halifax and Shearwater Sites, including both daycares are closed
• Pier 21 museum and offices closed
• NSLC stores in Halifax, Dartmouth and surrounding areas are closed
• Canada Post is not doing lettermail delivery

Health

• All blood donor clinics in the Maritimes are cancelled
• Community Mental Health: Bayers Road, Bedford/Sackville, Cole Harbour/Eastern HRM & West Hants all closed at 12 noon.

• Dartmouth General Hospital Outpatient physiotherapy services closed
• Pain clinics closed at Dartmouth General & Hants Community hospitals
• Geriatric Day Hospital clinics cancelled & the Health & Wellness Centre in North & East Preston is closed today
• All surgical pre-admission at VG cancelled today
• Community Health Teams, Integrated Chronic Care Service, Diabetes Management Centres, Dalhousie Family Med clinics closed
• Community Mental Health Dartmouth at Belmont House, Ochterloney St., closing at 11 a.m.
• All Hants Community Hospital ambulatory clinics and cardiac investigation units are closed

Recreation Programs/Child Care

• Several HRM Recreation programs/services are cancelled. Residents are asked to contact their Recreation Centre for a further update.
• YWCA Halifax offices and child care centres on Barrington and in Spryfield closed
• Dartmouth Family YMCA closed
• Sackville Sports Stadium closed

Sports

• Halifax Mooseheads playoff game vs. Charlottetown Islanders is postponed to Thursday at 7 p.m.
• The Halifax Rainmen vs Summerside Storm Game 6 has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 27th 7p.m.

Other

• Mic Mac Mall closed
• Sunnyside Mall closed
• Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market closed
• Casino Nova Scotia closing at 4 p.m.

• Halifax Regional School Board schools and offices are closed
• South Shore Regional School Board schools closed (incl. work sites)
• Annapolis Valley Regional School Board schools closed (incl. work sites)
• Tri-County Regional School Board schools closed (incl. work sites)
• Chignecto Regional School Board schools closed (offices and bus garages closed at 11a.m.)
• Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board schools closed
• Strait Regional School Board schools closed (incl. support staff, offices)
• Halifax Christian Academy closed
• Sacred Heart School of Halifax closed
• Sandy Lake Academy closed
• Bridgeway Academy closed
• Saint Mary’s University closed (incl. evening classes)
