“Too many unsolved murders” says former Halifax detective

It’s a troubling number.

Halifax has more than 60 unsolved murders, with one of the oldest going back to 1955.

Retired detective Tom Martin told News 95.7 that’s way too many for a city our size,

“Since the new chief for HRM has come in, they have started to increase the number of investigators working cold cases so I do have some hope,” he said.

Police say a lack of cooperation from the public is an issue, and Martin agrees to a degree but he says that can become an excuse and these cases need to be addressed.
