Northcliffe pool in Clayton Park is in the process of being demolished, with the city planning to put out a tender for the sale of part of the property soon.
HRM spokesperson Brendan Elliot says the pool was made redundant after the Canada Games Center was built.
He says the city plans to sell 3 out of 16 acres, but ensures the zoning on the land prohibits certain development that the local community has said they don’t want to see.
“When this land goes up for sale, it will not be sold to be redeveloped into apartment buildings or commercial real estate,” said Elliot.
The zoning will allow for a park, a sports field, or public institutions like a church or a school.
Elliot says HRM plans to keep the forested area and park land already on the property.
