Mooseheads sweep their way to QMJHL finals

Perfect.

That is the Halifax Moosehead’s record in this year’s playoff.

The Mooseheads kept their unblemished record by dumping the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 9-6 at Aréna Iamgold last night.

They’ve now won 12 straight games this postseason.

The win catapults the Heard into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final.

The Mooseheads found themselves up 2-1 after the first period, and the game opened up in the second, where the teams combined for five goals.

The Mooseheads started the third period with two quick goals in the first two minutes, which sent them on their way to the win, as the teams traded goals the rest of the way until the final buzzer.

Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Frk each had two goals and two assists for the Heard.

Zachary Fucale stopped 30 shots in the win.

What we don’t know is who the Mooseheads will play for the President’s Cup.

The series between the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Baie-Comeau Drakkar is currently tied at two games apiece.

The winner of that series will take on the well-rested Mooseheads for the trophy and the right to represent the QMJHL at the Memorial Cup in Saskatoon.
