Dartmouth pub suffers fire damage

A pub in Dartmouth has suffered extensive damage after an overnight fire.

There’s still a strong smell of smoke at Neighbour’s Pub on Rodney Street just off Portland.

Halifax Fire Acting Division Commander Pat Keating says fire crews were called to the scene around 2 a.m.

“When our units arrived they encountered heavy smoke coming from the structure and made entry into the structure and encountered a fire inside the building,” explained Keating. “We had five trucks on scene and it took them about 45 minutes to an hour to bring the fire under control.”

Keating says the pub was closed at the time the fire broke out and no one was inside.

The pub’s doors are currently open to air out the carbon monoxide and smoke, while security stands by.

No one was injured.

Fire investigators will be on scene this morning to try and determine the cause of the blaze.
