King’s Wharf officially opens

A ribbon cutting ceremony marks the officially opening of Downtown Dartmouth’s newest hot spot.

Two residential buildings are up but much more is coming to King’s Wharf, which overlooks Halifax Harbour. Over the next eight years, four more residential buildings will be built, along with retail areas and a 360 foot high tower.

President and CEO of the development Francis Fares says he’s happy with how his vision has come to life.

“I compare myself to an artist doing a painting,” said Fares. “You have the brush and you want to make sure you paint the best picture on the canvas. That’s similar to what I think and feel.”

All of the penthouses are sold out, and many people living in the buildings are young professionals and empty nesters.

Graham Curran is president of the condo corporation, he says this is the first condo he’s bought and lived in.

“When we first had a look at the place, it certainly seem to be well built,” said Curran. “I can tell you now, it is. It’s surpassed all of our hopes. It’s very quiet, it’s very comfortable.”

Prices for units range from $249,900 to $869,900.
