The Fall River man charged in the stolen artifacts case will remain in jail until at least March 8.

John Mark Tillman, 51, is charged with four counts of theft over $5000 after police raided his home in January.

RCMP seized almost 1000 historical artifacts that are alleged to be stolen.

There will be a show-cause hearing March 8 at Dartmouth provincial court, the Crown prosecutor expects the proceedings to take the better part of the day and they will be calling at least one, maybe two witnesses.

Cpl Scott MacRae with Halifax RCMP says the investigation is still ongoing and it’s been a big file for the members but they’re trudging through.

“We’ve been continually working with experts and people in the field of artifacts and that type of property,” says MacRae. “We get numerous calls from the public, and from universities and museums.”

Her says they anticipate “many more” charges to be laid against Tillman in the not too distant future.
