Man charged in Halifax sleep-watching case sentenced to four years in prison

A judge has sentenced a man to four years in prison for break and enter in a case that alarmed many residents of south-end Halifax.
Judge Michael Wood of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court sentenced Barry Edward Sinclair to a five-year prison term, but gave him credit for 12 months he has served while in custody.
Sinclair was accused of breaking into two apartments and watching women sleep.
He was found guilty last November of breaking into one of the two homes but not guilty of illegally entering the other home.
He was also acquitted of five counts of voyeurism related to a video seized from his home of women undressing in their apartments.
The Crown had argued for a six-year prison term, while Sinclair’s lawyer asked for an 18-month prison sentence with credit for 12 months in custody.
