Laffin sentencing pushed to March

Steven Elliot Laffin, the man accused of second degree murder in the death of a 29-year-old sex worker, was in court today but he wasn’t sentenced.
Lawyers told Justice Heather Robertson they’re still in discussions.
Crown Attorney Rick Woodburn said he and defence lawyer Kevin Burke are still hammering out the details in the murder case.
“We’ve been in discussions with the defence with regards to both the homicide and the aggravated assault,” he said. “We set it over for a couple weeks in order to continue discussions with regards to sentencing and parole eligibility.”
Laffin pleaded guilty to kidnapping and assault in the Aug. 2010 attack on another woman.
Woodburn added Laffin has not yet entered a plea in the murder case so he could still elect to go to trial meaning a new trial date will have to be set.
They’ll be back in court Mar. 7.
