Paramedic accused of stealing Halifax EHS narcotics

A local paramedic is accused of stealing narcotics by tampering with drug vials.

EHS called police last month after noticing some missing drugs. The Halifax Criminal Intelligence Unit worked the case for three weeks, leading to a traffic stop Thursday afternoon outside an EHS base on Wilkinson Avenue in Dartmouth.

Police found narcotics and seized more evidence at a home on Lawrence Street in Halifax Thursday night.

Zachary Dewar, 25, is due in court April 23, accused of breach of trust, mischief, drug possession and theft and possession under $5000.
