The recent trend of falling gasoline prices is coming to an end.

Our newsroom is predicting that when prices are reset at midnight tonight, the price for a litre of regular self-serve will jump by about 3 cents per litre.

George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices tells News 95.7 a spike in oil prices this week and some good economic news are playing into the prices.

“We saw the price of oil increase $2,” said Murphy. “Cruise acquisition costs would go up, and at the same time we’re starting to see possibly an increase in demand.”

One year ago, drivers in metro were forking over 129.3 for a litre of gasoline.
