Halifax Police ring in New Year with weapons call

A group of Metro Transit passengers in Dartmouth rang in the New Year with a fight that ended in a weapons complaint.

Halifax Regional Police say a man and woman got into a verbal altercation with a group of four young girls on a bus in the Wyse Road area around 1:30 a.m.

The man allegedly pointed a handgun at them and as the couple exited the bus, the woman punched one of the girls in the face.

Police are continuing to investigate.

The suspects are described as white, with the man estimated to be about 26 years old, about 5’8″ tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a black jacket with white trim and a blue toque.

The female suspect had long black hair and was wearing a black coat and a grey sweater.

Halifax Police also responded to a robbery call last night on Lacewood Drive.

A man entered a store around 10:20 p.m., showed the clerk a knife and got away with a sum of money. The clerk wasn’t injured.
