Three pedestrians hit in marked crosswalks

Halifax Regional Police are investigating three new pedestrian motor vehicle collisions since last night.

Const. Pierre Bourdages tells News 95.7, a woman, 54, was hit by a Metro Transit bus around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Spring Garden Road and Summer Street.

“She suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, but we also had another one at 7:56 a.m. at Hawthorne Street and Portland Street in Dartmouth,” said Bourdages. “A 19-year-old female there was hit by a car.”

That woman was rushed to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  Both of the incidents, which happened in marked crosswalks, are under investigation.

Tuesday evening around 5:45 p.m., a man was hit crossing the Portland Street at Manor Drive in Dartmouth.

Police are still looking for the driver of a beige Chevy Malibu or Impala that left the scene before police arrived.

A 22-year-old man was struck in a marked crosswalk. He fell to the ground and suffered minor injuries.

A witness followed the vehicle suspected of hitting the man to the Oathill Crescent and Celtic Drive area, but investigators say the plate number provided didn’t end up matching the vehicle description.

Police are still investigating.

With heavy rain, mixed with snow, hitting the region, police are reminding drivers and pedestrians to be cautious due to reduced visibility.
