The parking ban is on for the first time this season.

With snow and rain now and ice pellets later, the city will need the roads empty overnight.

“The overnight winter parking ban will be enforced overnight tonight from 1am to 6am,” said HRM spokeswoman Michaelyn Thompson. “So we’re asking people to kindly remove their vehicles from the streets.”

HRM says it will continue to notify residents when the ban is in place through Public Service Announcements, halifax.ca, 311, and on twitter @hfxgov.

HRM requests that residents remove any street obstructions whenever possible during snow clearing operations. Items such as basketball nets and organic green carts hinder proper snow clearing and can result in damage to property and equipment.
