Police have charged a second man in connection with the homicide of a young woman whose remains were found in a hockey bag in May.
Police say Brian Augustine Deruelle, 37, was arrested Sunday at his residence in Glace Bay and charged with accessory after the fact to murder in the death of Laura Catherine Jessome, 21.
On Saturday, police laid the same charge on Robert Edwin Matheson, 49, also from Glace Bay.
Both men were remanded to appear in Sydney provincial court on Monday.
A hockey bag containing the remains of Jessome was discovered floating along the Mira River near Marion Bridge, N.S., on May 25.
Police say Jessome was last seen on May 2 in the New Aberdeen area of Glace Bay.
Jessome’s case has also been added to the province’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
