A 29-year-old man was arrested by Halifax police early Sunday morning after a short standoff.

Officers were trying to arrest the man in connection to an earlier shoplifting incident, but when they got to his home on Churchill Court, he refused to come out and barricaded himself inside.

ERT was called and the man was eventually arrested without incident at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

He’ll appear in court Monday where he faces theft, breach of court orders and resisting arrest charges.
