Police confirm Sheet Harbour deaths as homicides

The deaths of two men found inside a burned out camp in Sheet Harbour have been ruled a homicide by RCMP.

The men, aged 59 and 22, were discovered following a fire that crews responded to Wednesday afternoon.

“We haven’t publicly come out with identifications but police have been working and doing notifications with the family,” says RCMP Cpl Scott MacRae. “In this situation the bodies were heavily damaged due to the fire.”

MacRae says they are still doing forensics.

“We’re very comfortable that we know who we’re dealing with but until we get that official ruling we can’t come out publicly.”

The fire occurred off Highway 374.
