The province’s Independent Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been called in to investigate an injury suffered by a man as he fled by car from RCMP near Cherrybrook.
At about 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning, two RCMP officers were conducting a checkpoint on the Number 7 Highway near the Riley Toad intersection.
A driver was directed to pull over but fled the scene.
Police pursued the vehicle which was found less than a kilometer down the road on its roof.
The driver, a man in his mid-20′s, was seen running from the car and was apprehended a short distance away.
He was taken to the hospital for a broken jaw.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call SIRT at 902-424-2010.
The Serious Incident Response Team is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
