A Canadian Forces member has pleaded guilty in Supreme Court to charges of sexually assaulting a woman and attacking her husband in a Halifax hotel room in 2010.

Andrew Norman Wilson’s trial was set to start Friday on charges of attacking a couple at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Hollis Street.

Wilson was charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault, unlawfully being in a dwelling, choking a person and aggravated assault.

His lawyer Patrick MacEwan tells News 95.7 his client pleaded guilty instead.

Wilson, a combat engineer in the Canadian Forces, was arrested at the hotel on April 3, 2010, at about 1 a.m. after a woman was sexually assaulted near a vending machine and her husband was beaten in their room.

The couple, from the southern United States, had just checked into the hotel for an Easter weekend visit to the Maritimes.

MacEwan will be back in court on Thursday to set a date for sentencing.
