HALIFAX – Halifax police say searches conducted at two homes have turned up quantities of drugs and 25 firearms.

Police say they stopped a car on Wednesday and arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a break and enter in Dartmouth last August. Officers later conducted a search at a home on Andover Street and found quantities of marijuana and hashish along with four handguns and one rifle.

The man faces several charges including marijuana possession and four counts of unsafe storage of a firearm. Police say a second search was conducted relating to the first case at a home on Braeside Court, where officers found ammunition and 20 firearms including 11 handguns.

Two 29-year-old women face charges and will appear in court at a later date.
