The MLA who took ill during a ministerial debate in the Nova Scotia Legislature last night is due to be released from hospital today.

Guysborough-Sheet Harbour NDP MLA Jim Boudreau was taken to hospital by ambulance around 8 p.m. after he fell ill during

Jenn Cotterill, with the NDP caucus office, said Boudreau rested comfortably overnight and will soon be back at work.

“I’m sure knowing Jim the way I do that he’s probably already on his Blackberry this morning…not sure that he’ll be in the House of Assembly for the next couple of days. I think rest is the order of the day,” said Cotterill.

Boudreau was aided by former paramedics, Energy Minister Chuck Porter and Health and Wellness Minister Dave Wilson, while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

It’s still unknown what caused the illness.
