Legend of broadcasting and the former public address announcer for the Halifax Mooseheads Pat Connolly has died at the age of 84. He had been battling Cancer.

Connolly, born and raised in Sydney, N.S. had a storied career which started in print in 1945. He began his broadcasting career in 1948 with CJCB Sydney, and then moved to CJCH in Halifax.

In 1954, Pat became Atlantic Canada’s first television sports host with CBHT. Pat went on to be the voice of the Nova Scotia Voyageurs, Nova Scotia Oilers and Halifax Citadels AHL teams.

Mooseheads fans will remember Connolly as the booming voice over the public address system in the arena.

The Mooseheads honoured Connolly during the home opener of the 2009 season, raising his banner to the rafters and re-naming the broadcast booth in his honour.
