Gun play in downtown Halifax Tuesday was more than shooting; it was a shootout.

Police say they now believe what witnesses heard just before 3 p.m. near Barrington and Cornwallis Streets was an exchange of bullets between two people.

Investigators say it looks like both shooters missed their targets, because no one has turned up hurt and no blood was spilled.

They have no names yet. But there are suspect descriptions.

Suspect 1: Black man, mid to late twenties, 5’9″ with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light gray hoodie, black scarf on his face, black puffy vest and light blue jeans. He fled north on Barrington.

Suspect 2: Light-skinned black man, in his early twenties, wearing a black skull cap and grey sweat pants. He fled north on Brunswick.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crimestoppers.
