Two people who tried to flee police Tuesday afternoon ended up getting their vehicle stuck on a guard rail.

Halifax Police were in the Bayers Lake business park when an officer noticed a man and woman in a car acting strangely.

He followed the vehicle and when it stopped in heavy traffic, the officer flashed his lights to pull the car over.

That prompted the driver to try to make a break for it by driving around stopped traffic, but police say he quickly drove his vehicle into a guard rail.

When he couldn’t get the vehicle free, he and his passenger tried to get away on foot, but police quickly caught up with them.

Police say the woman was released without charges, while the man, a 24-year-old from Halifax, will be in court at a later date accused of dangerous driving.

Police are still investigating what prompted the pair to avoid the traffic stop.
