Starting Thursday, city residents with a question or issue with municipal services will be able to get the answers they want by dialing one, simple, easy to remember number — 3-1-1.

HRM is ditching its seven-digit info number in favor of the toll-free special service.

It will be available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day with the exception of Christmas and New Years’ days. Issues related to illegally parked vehicles and animal control will be addressed outside of those hours.

People in emergency situations are still asked to call 9-1-1.
