Four arrested in drive-by shooting in Halifax; bomb squad called in

The discovery of a suspicious package that the explosives disposal unit took out of a Williamswood home on Monday is being linked to a shooting this weekend in Halifax.

Early saturday morning, shots were fired at a taxi near Robie Street and McCulley Street.

The presumed target, a passenger, left the cab before police arrived the suspect vehicle was also gone.

This morning, police carried out two search warrants in Halifax and one on Old Sambro Road, where the package was found.

Four men in their twenties are being questioned right now and police are still hoping to hear from more witnesses.

Police were searching a home in the 2400 block early Monday morning and found something that worried them.

The Explosives Disposal Unit was called to the scene to remove the package. Their remote-controlled robot was seen entering and exiting the home.

Traffic was shut down in both directions between Hazel Drive and Grover Drive from before noon until nearly 2pm.
