Donation box stolen from Parkdale restaurant

Toronto police have arrested a man after a donation box was stolen from a Parkdale restaurant near King and Dufferin streets on Friday.

Police say a man entered the restaurant around 1 p.m. He allegedly took a donation jar from the counter and hid it under his jacket.

He then fled, but the owner of the restaurant confronted him.

The accused threatened the owner. She screamed, alerting two nearby officers.

An off-duty police officer and a traffic cop arrested the man.

Mark Skinner, 47, has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent, assault with a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with probation.

He appeared in court on Saturday.

The amount of money that was stolen won’t be disclosed, Const. Tony Vella said.

Last month, a woman was arrested for stealing a SickKids donation box from a downtown store.
