Police say charges have yet to be laid against four people arrested following an attack on Centennial Arena security guards Saturday night.

The Halifax West Warriors were battling the Sackville Kingfishers in high school hockey action inside the packed Vimy Ave. arena when four people tried to get into he game. Security guards denied them access because of fire code occupancy regulations.

That’s when Halifax Police say things got ugly.

“One officer was struck in the face, another was injured by flying glass when a rock was thrown the front window pane. Another officer also suffered a minor stab wound,” Sgt. Greg Robertson told News 95.7.

Police arrived on scene and chased the group on foot. Four people, all under the age of 18, were taken into custody.

“One of the suspects resisted arrest during that time. A conductive energy weapon was deployed to bring him under control and arrest him,” said Robertson.

The security guards were treated and released from hospital.
