Halifax residents, who have their mind made up about the municipal election, can start casting their ballots today.

Today is the first day of advance polls to vote for the mayor, councilors and school board members.

All early ballots can be cast online or by telephone starting at 8 a.m.

A few of the province’s local ministers say they will be casting their ballots this weekend including finance minister Maureen MacDonald.

“I hope to do it electronically, like I think I did last time, actually,” she says.

Minister of communities, culture and heritage, Leonard Preyra is another who says he’ll be voting early, and online.

Advanced voting is a 24-hour-a-day service until Oct. 18.

If you’d rather vote in person, you’ll have to wait until election day on Oct. 20.
