A bail hearing in the so-called ‘Internet Black Widow’ case had been adjourned until next week.
Melissa Ann Weeks made a brief appearance in Sydney provincial court Friday morning.
Crown attorney Diane McGrath tells News 95.7 the case will be back in court on Oct. 9th.
“Defense council wasn’t prepared to proceed at this point,” she says. “The Crown remains opposed to her release and (the defense) did not have a release plan in place to present to the judge today.”
Weeks, 77, was previously convicted of manslaughter in the death of her husband Gordon Stewart in Dartmouth in 1991. Her next husband died 14 months after the wedding.
Weeks, as Melissa Friedrich, then spent time in jail in the U.S. after cleaning out the bank account of a boyfriend after he fell ill.
