A man is accused in a destructive window-smashing and theft rampage in south-end Halifax.

Police were called to a parkade on University Avenue in the middle of the night Wednesday where a man had broken into five vehicles and stolen things.

A police dog helped track down a suspect on Greenwood Avenue.

While he was being questioned, other officers were called to another parkade on Fenwick Street where another dozen cars were smashed and things were stolen.

The description of the bad guy in that crime was the same as the man they’d picked up earlier.

Dean Gordon Normand, 37, is charged with 17 counts of Property Damage, plus charges of Theft, Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property and several breaches.

More charges could follow.
