Police have arrested a man suspected of luring a child to a washroom at the Joseph Howe Drive Superstore on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit say the man was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. Friday in Halifax.
“At this time, we’re not releasing any information other than to say that we are satisfied that the person with whom we’re trying to identify has been located, arrested, he is in custody,” says Halifax Regional Police Cst. Brian Palmeter. “We will be interviewing him today, but at this time, no decision on charges has been made.”
Police say a man approached a 4-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon and took him to the washroom upstairs at the Superstore. The man then left the washroom with the boy, but exited the store alone.
Pictures of the suspect were released yesterday, and police say tips from the public helped identify him.
