Hurricane season is in full swing the Atlantic.

As residents in places like Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi clean up after battling Isaac, hurricane watchers and Meteorologists alike are keeping an eye on two new storms.

The first is Tropical Storm Kirk.  “Kirk is expected to become a Hurricane in the next 48 hours, but it will stay well off our shores.” said News 95.7 Meteorologist Richard Zurawski.

Zurawski did say he is watching another system developing of the coast of Cape Verde.

“I’m kind of concerned about it.  It seems to be following the track of Kirk, but the ridge of high pressure over the Maritimes is breaking down.” said Zurawski.

That ridge, a Bermuda high, has been protecting the Maritimes from tropical weather.

Zurawski does say that it’s still very early in the storms development and it’s impossible to predict where the storm will land at this point.

If the depression continues to gain strength and becomes a Tropical Storm is will be named Leslie.
