With Halifax Regional Municipality’s election only just a couple of months away there’s a lot of speculation swirling about outgoing Mayor Peter Kelly’s future political intentions.
Mayor Kelly has said he is not reoffering for a fourth term in office and he has said what he plans to do in the future. This as Metro Halifax is reporting Kelly is considering challenging Coun. Tim Outhit for his Bedford seat.
“I think he should join the council because he’s a strong man and I believe in his policies,” said one Kelly supporter. “I think so. He’s a good leader.”
However, speaking to more people on the streets of Halifax, it seems support for Kelly remaining in politics was mixed.
“If he’s not running for mayor why should he run for council?” asked one man. “I think we need a big change in this city. I think we need to move forward, not backwards, and that’s where we’re moving now.”
While still others say one politician is as bad as the next.
Kelly has not confirmed he will be running for a city council seat. He told Metro News “you never say never” in politics.
