Metro Transit has agreed to let seniors ride the bus for free – on a trial basis.
The three-month pilot project begins in September and will only be offered Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and after 6 p.m.
Halifax Regional Council voted in favour of the trial service Tuesday, despite concerns from some councillors that they’ll have no way of assessing the program’s success.
Metro Transit has no way to count the seniors who will use the service.
The Herald reports the pilot program will cost $50,000.
