Nova Scotia and HRM have lifted the fire bans after recent rounds of rainfall.

The province’s Natural Resources Department implemented the provincewide ban on open fires three weeks ago after dry and warm weather elevated the fire weather index to extreme in some regions.

The department says it is still urging people to use caution when lighting any fires in or around woodlands.

People who want to have fires within 305 metres of the woods require a provincial burning permit.
