An 18-year-old charged in the death of an elderly woman in her Dartmouth home last winter may be close to reaching a deal.

Jamie Gallant is charged with the first-degree murder of Lavinia Campbell.

He tells the Herald he’s been discussing the matter with the Crown prosecutor for some time and has a process that he believes will result in a resolution, likely before a hearing on Aug. 30 to set dates for a trial.
