A 16-year-old boy was in critical condition Wednesday night after he was run over by a bus making a turn in downtown Halifax.
“The preliminary investigation suggest that the male was attempting to catch the bus which would have already pulled away from the bus stop on Barrington Street and then began to turn onto Spring Garden Road,” said Halifax Regional Police Sgt. Greg Robertson. “It appears the pedestrian accidentally ran into the front passenger side of the bus and fell to the ground having the front wheel drive over his lower body.”
Police say the boy was conscious at the scene and briefly treated prior to being transported to the Q.E. II Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Robertson says that a preliminary investigation indicates no charges will be laid, and he said police don’t believe there was any negligence by the bus driver.
