An RCMP cruiser was struck twice Sunday night in Bayer’s Lake by a suspected impaired driver.
A Mountie tried to pull over the driver at around 9 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Bay Road and Lakelands Boulevard after calls about a possible drunk driver in Timberlea.
When the officer activated the emergency lights, the suspect’s pick-up truck veered off the road and ran into a brick sign.
The driver put the truck in reverse, hitting the police car’s front bumper and then hit the driver side-door when he went forward and reversed again.
A 53-year old Lower Sackville man was arrested with blood-alcohol reading over twice the legal limit.
He faces several charges including impaired driving.
