Construction on the new World Trade and Convention Centre in downtown Halifax is set to start in weeks, it’s just down to signing all the documents now.
The Chronicle Herald reports contract negotiations have been finalized and received cabinet approval Thursday.
Halifax City Council will go over the memorandum of agreement on Tuesday that explains the operational funding and how the centre will be managed with the province.
While a construction schedule hasn’t been set yet, it’s expected to take three years to complete the project.
The entire project, which includes other parts of the Nova Centre development, will span over two city blocks and is estimated to cost about $500 million to build.
Construction was supposed to start in 2010.
