RCMP has confirmed the remains found on a Colechester County property last Tuesday are in fact, those of 20 year old Melissa Dawn Peacock who went missing November, 2011.
RMCP Sgt. Brigdit Leger says the remains were so decomposed, that the body was identified through dental records, confirming Melissa had been dead for some time.
”In order to positively identify the remains we had to use dental records” she says “We believe Melissa was killed in November.”
Sgt. Leger says Police were confident the remains were Melissa’s upon their discovery Tuesday but can’t confirm how they located the body.
“Because the matter is currently before the courts I can’t disclose what brought use to the location where the body was found” she explains “Through the investigation and evidence we gained we were able to locate the remains “
Leger says that confirmation further adds evidence to the case against brothers Dustan Joseph Preeper and Joshua Micheal Preeper who were charged with Peacock’s first degree murder yesterday in Truro Provincial Court.
Remains found in Colechester belong to Melissa Dawn Peacock
