Disturbing details are starting to emerge after Saturday night’s apparent murder-suicide in a Lake Echo home.

The Chronicle Herald reports neighbours are painting a picture of the man believed to have shot and killed his wife before killing himself as someone who drank to excess and frequently flew off the handle.

Neighbours who spoke to the paper say 50-year-old Bryce Joudrey had lost his job as a trucker just a week or two ago, and that he had been drinking heavily Saturday night.

A teen who lives near the house says he often went to home to see the man’s son and that Joudrey would often come home drunk, start breaking things and even take his anger out on his son and daughter and their friends.

One man who just met Bryce in the last year added that he had a bad feeling about him, but others say he was good company when he wasn’t drinking.

Neighbours say the apparent victim, Denise Joudrey, had kicked her husband out for a while, but he came back and since that time, she had become withdrawn.

A former co-worker says Denise used to be a hairdresser and sometimes cut hair from home. She also recently worked as a continuing-care assistant at a nursing home.
