Halifax police are hunting for four men who beat up and robbed a man at gunpoint near Point Pleasant Park.

Regional police Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders tells News 95.7 the 24-year-old victim was driving near Tower Road and Point Pleasant Drive around 2:45 a.m. Sunday when a vehicle pulled in front of him and forced him to stop.

“Four males got out of their vehicle and approached him and told him to get out of his car, at which time they pushed him to the ground,” she said. “One of the suspects had a firearm and demanded his money.”

The victim was kicked and punched before the suspects took off with some of his cash.

Saunders says investigators have only a limited description to work with.

“Currently, it appears the suspect vehicle was a larger model white vehicle, possibly a truck,” she said. “The only description of the suspects are that they are four black males between the ages of 20 to 30, and they all had their faces covered.”

The victim made his way to the QEII for treatment of facial injuries and called police.

Saunders says it appears the attack is random, as the victim didn’t know any of his assailants.

Investigators are canvassing the area and checking with local businesses in hopes of finding the suspects on surveillance video.

Anyone with information is asked to call Halifax police at 490-5016 or to contact their local police department.
