About a half-dozen people concerned about the impact of a drilling technique known as fracking were ejected from the Nova Scotia legislature Thursday.

The group interrupted question period.

When one was told to be quiet, another in a different spot in the public gallery would continue.

A police officer and commissionaires escorted the group out of the building.

They appeared to be in their 20s, and one among the group told reporters that petitions and other methods of opposition aren’t working.

Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, is a controversial method of drilling for natural gas that involves forcing water and chemicals into rock to release gas.
