An otherwise quiet court appearance for a teen charged with first-degree murder turned emotional when the mother of another teen facing the same charges showed up.
Jamie William Gallant, 18, is accused of killing a 79-year-old woman in her Jackson Road home.
He made a brief court appearance in Dartmouth tuesday, and Global News reports the mother of a 15-year-old boy who’s also accused in the death confronted him on his way out of the building.
“You messed up my baby’s life!” the woman shouted at Gallant, as sherriff’s officers pushed her away. “Fifteen! He was fifteen!”
The two teens were arrested after officers found the elderly woman’s body in her home on Friday afternoon.
A neighbour called police after they saw the back door had been kicked in.
Media reports identify the victim as Lavinia Campbell, who lived alone with several cats.
Gallant will return to court January 23. The 15-year-old has a bail hearing on Friday.
